Collection Photo Update

Alright so it's 2014 and I haven't posted a photo of the Disney movie shelves in awhile. Thanks to being a member this last year of the Disney Movie Club my collection has certainly expanded/upgraded. I have an almost full shelf of DVDs! I have my collection orgainized by release. A few Live action films are on the bottom self especially if I'm on the fence about keeping them. (Looking at you Miracle of the White Stallions) Am I ever going to watch you again? Leaning towards no....

Then there is the Jim henson/star wars shelf. Once I get another shelf cleared I'll be moving all my Misc. Disney VHS tapes over to it like 90s cartoon shows that have never gotten a DVD release, Dtv, Sing a long tapes. Muppet Babies is going to stay hanging out with the other muppet movies. I recently picked up some at a thrift store. Including one I had growing up that at some point I had donated. Then I decided I wanted to see some of the show again as an adult and here we are now I'm up to 4 VHS of the show. I have several VHS tapes of the Aladdin cartoon, Ariel, Hercules, Marsupilami, and Timon & Pumba. All shows I grew up with as a kid that probably won't ever get a proper DVD release. Though I'm not sure how well they'd sell since the shows aren't always that great.

DTV aka Disney Mtv is probably one of my favorite ever thrift store finds. I still have 2 more to find!

Today is 3/18 so all Disney fans should know Frozen is out today! I ended up getting my pre-order a day early in the mail :D

Case Of The Killer Pizzas, A Birthday Party!

So I celebrated a bit early this year for my birthday.

Started off making some Krang Cupcakes
Q made us some pizza. Also had frozen pizza to accommodate how many people were invited.

People!
Then my friends are far too kind and a few surprised me with gifts ^-^ A lot of people commented how I shouldn't have to cook for my own party but I like to cook, it comes with being a good host. Someone has to provide food, its either a pot luck with few people attending or you make food and then they will flock to your event cause who doesn't like a free meal?

I'm already using that giant beer mug for paint brushes. Already put some time into the video game its fun!

Cleaning

So far my summer has been Clean, Clean, and more cleaning! I've taken it upon myself to clean out the basement. Years of stuff dumped downstairs been pitching anything that has been eaten by mice. We had a mice infestation almost 7 years ago thanks to my previous cat who lived in the garage. Somehow mice brought into the garage found a small hole to get into the basement near the pipes. No cats in the house... so they flourished down there. Mice free now, and I let my cat in the house and the basement just in case here and there. So much paper trash, I've managed to donate the majority of my childhood items so majority of the stuff downstairs now is not mine. Well ... other than my pony collection and my boxes of kitchen items boxed and ready to move. I'm hoping to go through another downsizing of my stuff once I'm done attempting to clean everything else. If I'm going to live here it's going to be clean! It frustrates me to no end I keep running into how to not be cluttered self help books cluttering up the space I'm trying to clean! So today produced 4 trash bags and 3 boxes for goodwill. Only one box of stuff that has a home and 3 not my stuff boxes sorted through. Found some pieces to a playset I have set aside to sell, only a few more pieces to find and I can sell it!

Lilo & Stitch

Tonight, I'm rewatching Disney's Lilo & Stitch. A movie I enjoy and haven't seen in at least 5 years, would love to see Beauty and the Beast. However being in the middle of moving back I don't have my VHS player set back up so I guess that movie is higher up on the upgrade list. I'm also curious about the direct to video Lilo & Stitch 2 but haven't gotten around to picking it up yet.

The first noticeable thing about this movie is the art style. Which I really love the watercolors and how the characters have very minimal lines, you hardly see any straight lines in the character design. Plus how can you not resist something so fluffy and evil such as stitch? I'm sure in planning out this film there was more information about the aliens but really, the story doesn't need much more than the information given about the aliens in the beginning. I'm not sure still how I feel about Lilo's obsession with taking photos of obese people... it's just so out there.

I don't really have much Disney stuff other than Oliver & Co. However I do own this salt and pepper set. My mother surprised me with one Christmas after the movie came out. Granted I have no use for these shakers at the moment.. and they aren't really practical for my kitchen.

Film

Since next week is graduation, I've been thinking about what I'm going to be doing with the spare time I have opening up. Traveling of course, crafting already catching up on baby items for all the baby showers.
However I know that at the end of the day not having many friends within a 20 mile radius I watch a lot of movies. My second year of college I took a film appreciation class and I loved it. We had to watch movies and write up short essays on whatever the subject of the week was. From lighting, actors, to sound. My first college we had to purchase our books so I did end up keeping the Understanding Movies book. I also Have a small book called, A short guide to writing about Film. Which was given to me by the couple who ran a bookshop in town. Sadly closed, but the store was their retirement fun. I was sad to see it go, but they hardly had any business and once the husband passed away I wasn't surprised the lady closed up shop within two years. Only 5 people drift in within a day? Janesville's downtown is dead, to have something so wonderful go out of business.

What this comes down to is I'm toying with the idea of writing about the movies I watch over the summer. I tend to re-watch a lot of Disney films and other fantasy favorites. Though I also have a large back log of stuff I haven't seen so it would be a mix of both. Or maybe I'll find an essay I wrote back in 2008 in hiding on my external to post. I may go into detail or have a few sentences about a movie I enjoy.
