Lilo & Stitch

Tonight, I'm rewatching Disney's Lilo & Stitch. A movie I enjoy and haven't seen in at least 5 years, would love to see Beauty and the Beast. However being in the middle of moving back I don't have my VHS player set back up so I guess that movie is higher up on the upgrade list. I'm also curious about the direct to video Lilo & Stitch 2 but haven't gotten around to picking it up yet.

The first noticeable thing about this movie is the art style. Which I really love the watercolors and how the characters have very minimal lines, you hardly see any straight lines in the character design. Plus how can you not resist something so fluffy and evil such as stitch? I'm sure in planning out this film there was more information about the aliens but really, the story doesn't need much more than the information given about the aliens in the beginning. I'm not sure still how I feel about Lilo's obsession with taking photos of obese people... it's just so out there.

I don't really have much Disney stuff other than Oliver & Co. However I do own this salt and pepper set. My mother surprised me with one Christmas after the movie came out. Granted I have no use for these shakers at the moment.. and they aren't really practical for my kitchen.

Film

Since next week is graduation, I've been thinking about what I'm going to be doing with the spare time I have opening up. Traveling of course, crafting already catching up on baby items for all the baby showers.
However I know that at the end of the day not having many friends within a 20 mile radius I watch a lot of movies. My second year of college I took a film appreciation class and I loved it. We had to watch movies and write up short essays on whatever the subject of the week was. From lighting, actors, to sound. My first college we had to purchase our books so I did end up keeping the Understanding Movies book. I also Have a small book called, A short guide to writing about Film. Which was given to me by the couple who ran a bookshop in town. Sadly closed, but the store was their retirement fun. I was sad to see it go, but they hardly had any business and once the husband passed away I wasn't surprised the lady closed up shop within two years. Only 5 people drift in within a day? Janesville's downtown is dead, to have something so wonderful go out of business.

What this comes down to is I'm toying with the idea of writing about the movies I watch over the summer. I tend to re-watch a lot of Disney films and other fantasy favorites. Though I also have a large back log of stuff I haven't seen so it would be a mix of both. Or maybe I'll find an essay I wrote back in 2008 in hiding on my external to post. I may go into detail or have a few sentences about a movie I enjoy.

10 Days!

In 10 Days I shall graduate from college with a degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Multimedia. Ended up not wanting a job in those areas but I shall have a BA! Then I'll be free!!! Oh so free! Just think of all the crochet and crafty projects I'll get to do this summer! I'm taking the summer off this year as a treat to myself I have 100 acres for income and come winter I'm going to be applying for the seasonal work. Woo Christmas music torture! I dread it already! First thing on the project list, More Baby items! Lots of upcoming baby showers that I'm cheap and would rather make something for a gift. Next item would probably be unpacking... moved back in with the parents for awhile plan saving up for a house vs renting. So rearranging is in order and more spring cleaning I severely need to reduce the amount of items I have. Also started boxing up my house essentials so that when I do move again everything is labeled ready to go! Like I need my kitchen stuff in a fully stocked kitchen? I think not.
And from the park last weekend, summer is here it's hooping time!

Disney Movie Collection

So most of my friends know I collect My Little Pony and have a display of TMNT. Wanted to show off my Disney movie collection also I signed up for the Disney reddit swap so it'll be useful.

This year my gift to myself was to join the Disney Movie club so I can slowly start upgrading all my VHS-DVD and hopefully downsize some shelving. Also the last purchase plan for the Disney club is going through in June. For my last 4 required purchases: Emperor's New Groove, Tangled, Hunchback of Notre Dame, and I've been so torn on the fourth but I think I'm opting for Aristocats. I really want Wreak it Ralph however I've seen it so many times since it came out on DVD I have no desire to see it anytime soon so I can wait. Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll be gifted to me at some point but I tend to get lucky at Exclusive company when all the rentals show up for resale. Or there is always Christmas there everything half off sale will probably fill in a ton of gaps this upcoming winter. As you can see Aristocats and Fox and the Hound were childhood movies that came with plushies! I already upgraded the Fox&Hound.

Weekends

Skating at Watertown last weekend. Went and carpooled with some friends since I was already in Madison at that point. Usually I go skating once a week sometimes twice if I feel like getting up early on a Wed. for adult skate. :) I drive somewhat far to go skating on a well kept wood floor. The regulars are really nice and if you bore of skating there are some great classic arcade games! Qbert anyone?
